In a new ranking by WalletHub, St. Petersburg, Florida was the highest-ranking Best-Run City in Florida, based on how well the Sunshine City scored in service categories measured against the city’s per-capita budget. Nationally, St. Pete’s economy ranked second only to Austin, Texas, ahead of Nashville, Raleigh, and Charlotte, among others.
The service categories are:
—Financial stability
—Education
—Health
—Safety
—Economy
—Infrastructure and Pollution
WalletHub posted the question:
“How do we measure the effectiveness of local leadership? One way is by determining a city’s operating efficiency. In other words, we can learn how well city officials manage and spend public funds by comparing the quality of services residents receive against the city’s total budget.”
Using that approach, WalletHub compared the operating efficiency of 150 of the largest U.S. cities to reveal which among them are managed best. St. Petersburg was ranked #41 nationally overall (the highest-ranking city in Florida) and #2 in the Economy category. For more, visit “2022’s Best- & Worst-Run Cities in America.”
