Wave is Awarded Neighborhood Builders Grant to Amplify Underrepresented Founders

Once upon a time, Tampa Bay was not revered as a hockey town, it’s not a secret that Champa Bay has come a long way. Tampa wasn’t always recognized as an innovation hub either, namely in the tech sector; albeit, Forbes recently declared our city as the #1 emerging tech city in the US! Tampa Bay is evolving in a significant way, and the tech, entrepreneurial ecosystem is thriving. Over the last two decades, Wave proudly pioneered a diverse tech ecosystem in our region; creating an equitable environment for all to succeed, and supporting inclusive economic development.

Tampa Bay Wave and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast are the recipients for the 2021 Bank of America Neighborhood Builders® award, granting each organization a $200K, two-year funding opportunity. This generous funding from our community partner will support Wave in expanding our various 90-day accelerator programs, CyberTech|X, TechDiversity, TechWomen Rising, and our newest program, FinTech|X. As well as our CORE program, which is providing entrepreneurs with critical resources to scale their startups; benefits include access to our robust mentor and investor network, curated perks and year-round support from the Wave team.

As Neighborhood Builder recipients, Linda Olson, CEO, and Ramit Singh, Director of Startup & Entrepreneurial Programs, accepted an invitation to join a nonprofit leadership development program, with a network of peer organizations from across the country. The culmination of this funding will undoubtedly help Wave in fostering a diverse tech ecosystem, better representing minority-led and women-led startups; cultivating success for the next generation of entrepreneurs, and building an abundant, bright future, filled with opportunity for the future innovators of tomorrow.
