ICD-10-CM FY 2025 Code Updates
It’s all about the specificity
It’s that time of year again—Code Update Season! The recently released ICD-10-CM code updates focus on additional clarity and specification. These updates continue to benefit the ICD-10 code set by allowing coding professionals to tell the patient story accurately. Buckle up and get ready for less unspecified and more documentation opportunities.
For FY2025, there were 252 additions, 36 deletions, and 13 revisions, bringing the code set to 74,260 codes. Chapter 2 includes the most changes, deleting unspecified codes and adding new codes to specify those in remission or those not having achieved remission.
An Example of this can be found below:
Delete: C865 Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma
Add: C8650 Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma not having achieved remission
Add: C8651 Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, in remission
