DTM opened its new corporate headquarters in the Hub (450 8th Avenue SE) in August. The Brugers are the initial St. Pete employees, with a technician based out of South Florida. They plan to add at least two or three additional executives to their St. Pete HQ in the next few years.
“We were looking for our forever home and a city that would provide a fun way of life for us and our employees,” says Nicky Bruger, “We are so happy to be in St. Pete.”
Digital Twin Marine, a applied technology company that creates customized 3D as-built digital twins of large ships, has relocated its headquarters to St. Petersburg, Florida, citing the city’s youth, easy airport access, and quality of life.
DTM’s replicas can be used for project management, marketing, and training, allowing a ship to be viewed from anywhere in the world. The company has also expanded into the utility space, creating as-built digital twins of power plants and substations. The digital twins are like Google Street View, but for large ships and utilities, allowing ship owners and utility companies to get data about their working assets, allowing them to make better-informed decisions.
Young with Easy Access
DTM CEO and co-founder Nicky Bruger says the company chose St. Pete because, “We love how young the city is, and it’s also great to be near Tampa Bay. The proximity to Tampa International Airport is excellent, and because we travel often for business, being close to an international airport was important.”
Bruger and her co-founder and chief technology officer Tom Bruger initially wanted to locate in the St. Pete Innovation District’s Hub for Maritime & Defense Technology, but there was no space available when they were exploring options in 2022. They were introduced to the St. Pete Economic Development Corp. by Danielle Mousseau of Florida Power & Light after participating in the 35 Mules incubator, and business development manager Beau Giles let them know that space in the Hub had become available and helped the Brugers reconnect with Hub manager Lauren Bell.
