Featured CLIMBER: Francesco Pirro
Employees at A-LIGN take many different paths throughout their journey—that’s why we sat down with Francesco Pirro, Experienced Staff Consultant of the ISO Practice, to discuss how he began his career at A-LIGN, why he thinks cybersecurity is important and more! Read below for all the details.
Where are you from, and how did you begin your career at A-LIGN?
I’m originally from Panama City, Panama and I came to A-LIGN after a recommendation from my good friend, Mario, who also works on our ISO team. He told me about the opportunity and introduced me to David Arcia, A-LIGN’s ISO Manager, who explained everything I needed to know about the position and the company, and after our conversation I was very interested. From there I went through a few interviews, and I’ve been part of the A-LIGN team since then!
Tell me about your role as an Experienced Staff Consultant at A-LIGN.
In short, I’m an auditor. My role is mostly building good relationships with clients, having strong IT knowledge, and applying that to my day-to-day tasks. I audit a lot of clients and ensure they have the best audit experience possible. It’s really rewarding getting to audit clients all over the world and I learn a lot from each client.
Why do you think cybersecurity is important?
Cybersecurity is extremely important, especially now with so many businesses working remotely. I think it’s imperative for every organization to have an established cybersecurity program to protect themselves and their data, and to maintain a good company image. By establishing a cybersecurity program, it eliminates a lot of their risks and that’s what companies like A-LIGN can assist them with.
How would you describe A-LIGN in one word?
All-in. Anytime I work with someone on our team, I truly get the feeling that all of us are all-in and trying to achieve one common goal, which is to provide the best experience we possibly can to our clients. It’s really refreshing to work with a team where we all have one common goal we want to achieve.
What is a fun fact about yourself that many people may not know?
Four years ago, I moved to Asia. I had never been to Asia in my life, but I had just graduated from Penn State University and didn’t want to move back to Panama quite yet, so I packed my bags and moved to Taipei in Taiwan. I found a job as an engineer and stayed there for about two years. It was a really great experience, and I learned a lot, and I think many of the things I learned still help me today in my current role at A-LIGN.
