Employees at A-LIGN take many different paths throughout their journey—that’s why we sat down with Kalina Antonova, Project Manager at A-LIGN, to discuss how she began her career, her responsibilities as a project manager, and the most rewarding part of her job. Read below for all the details! 

Where are you from, and how did you begin your career at A-LIGN?    

I’m from Sofia, Bulgaria and I’ve lived here most of my life, except for one year when I lived in Alaska. I started my career at A-LIGN almost two years ago as a Project Coordinator, and I was actually the first member of our PMO team in Bulgaria. I had a previous co-worker who still works at A-LIGN contact me about the role, and after a few conversations and interviews, I joined the team! 

Tell me about your role as a Project Manager at A-LIGN.  

I’m responsible for a variety of things, but I mainly focus on the people who report to me. I’m heavily involved in the project creation side of things—once our sales team sells a deal, it comes to our PMO team, and from there we create the project for our service delivery team to begin. Throughout the entire audit process, our PMO team ensures that everything is accurate and running smoothly. There are many other things that come up day to day as a people manager, and the variety of tasks I work on is actually one of the things I enjoy most about this role! 

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?  

The most rewarding part of my job is when my team is feeling good, safe and supported. I always want them to feel like they’re well led, and being their manager is a continuous learning experience for me. I actually just obtained my Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification, and I’m eager to implement many of the things I learned through that course, especially when it comes to communication skills. Ultimately, I feel responsible for my team being happy in the workplace and I do everything I can to ensure that is always the case! 

How would you describe A-LIGN in one word?    

Dynamic. 

What do you do for fun outside of work?  

I love camping, playing board games, outside games, and just being in nature in general! I really enjoy the seaside, so I am looking forward to CLIMB, A-LIGN’s annual employee event, which is in Tampa, Florida this summer!
