Responsibilities
Provides information security support for Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) to audit, test, and confirm technical compliance with the datacenter as well as University information technology security policies, programs and industry best practices.
Responsible, in direct collaboration with the datacenter Director, Associate Directors, and ISM, for computer security infrastructure development with special focus in designing, producing, and deploying tools/scripts/programs for monitoring and actively enhancing the security posture of the computing resources at NWRDC.
Responsible for developing and scheduling routine risk and vulnerability assessments, including but not limited to network and host scanning in direct collaboration with the center Director, Associate Directors, and managers.
Works in collaboration with the center Director, Associate Directors, and ISM to write data center policies and procedures as it pertains to security and security controls. This includes but is not limited to CSIRT and the development and updates to the datacenter’s Security Plan.
Actively works with datacenter ISM the center’s technical teams to assist in strengthening our security practices. Ensure that teams meet or exceed NWRDC standards and industry security best practices. Assists the Director, Associate Directors, and ISM with investigating IT security incidents and conducting computer forensics.
Work with datacenter ISM to educate staff on emerging security trends including, researching and informing technology managers of newly released vulnerabilities, administering NWRDCs annual security training, and circulating NWRDCs security newsletter.
Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC’s policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace. Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a 24×7 data center.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years’ experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience ( Note:or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years. )
Knowledge of information technology security measures.
Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications, network, and data fields.
Knowledge of and experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
Knowledge of standard hardware and software configurations.
Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field (i.e. C++, Visual Basic, TCP/IP).
Ability to identify trends, predict impact of actions on system operations, detect discrepancies in the function of an organization, and take necessary action to correct performance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to install and verify software installations. Experience with MS SQL.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain?

Soft Money Funded Position
This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
Schedule
If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
As required by U.S. Justice Department, CJIS level Background Check shall be conducted for positions with access to Criminal Justice Information.
